I really do not want to keep a dual boot with windows just for capturing and encoding video and linux for all my other work. Even VLC will not see it but offers a capture option. I am getting closer as Kino is somewhat working. I have searched the forum and Google for days trying to find an answer, so now I come to the experts. It will not see my camera at all but does show a firewire connection as it gives me an option to capture just no device to capture from. I also have KDENLive installed (from Flatpak). but will not record video, will not show video being captured and stops after a sec or two. Closest I can get is that Kino will make the camera play, rewind, pause etc.

However in Linux, I cannot get any video software to work proper. I purchased a firewire card and the system does see it. Not the greatest but faster than my laptops. So I have win 10 and linux19 (latest version and upgrades), An Acer Aspire with an 8th gen i5 processor and 8 gig ram.
